At the very least, a slightly bigger impact might have led to a port on PS4, and then from there, who knows what might have happened. Soul Sacrifice feels like a 0.8 release compared to the 1.0 that is SSD, and I do wonder if the series would have made a bigger impact if it originally released as SSD. It felt like they had to have one exclusive be out asap, regardless if the game was fully fleshed out. I dunno why Sony chose to release Soul Sacrifice as is and not wait until the more fully formed SSD expansion as the first game. More balanced and with nothing glaring dragging it down (melee being underpowered vs firearms and the sneak missions in FW). Freedom Wars tends to be more popular, but for me SSD is the far better game.
